SLO County Government Center

Welcome to the Administrative Office

Our mission is to provide advice, interpret and implement the goals and policies of the Board of Supervisors through effective leadership and management of County services. We do this to achieve the County's vision of a safe, healthy, livable, prosperous, and well-governed community.

Functions of the Administrative Office

Emergency Management

The Administrative Office includes the Office of Emergency Services, which coordinates disaster readiness efforts countywide, develops and maintains key emergency management disaster response plans, and provides emergency management training to various public and related agencies in San Luis Obispo County.

Citizen Outreach/Support

The Administrative Office connects the public with County government in a variety of ways. It conducts surveys for community feedback to improve performance, develops informative presentations and materials to improve communication with the public and promotes technology to make County government more accessible.

Organization Support

The Administrative Office also assists the Board of Supervisors in managing, directing, and coordinating the operation of all County Departments over which the Board exercises control. It does this by preparing and reviewing the Board meeting agendas; analyzing, interpreting and implementing Board policies; labor relations; and managing the County's budget.

The Administrative Office also supports the organization by through capital planning, responding to public requests for information, resolving citizen complaints, troubleshooting, and keeping departments up to date on important issues.

Organizational Effectiveness

The Administrative Office works to create a high-performance, results-oriented County government by promoting strategic planning, setting goals, managing performance, and encouraging continuous improvement through a regular organizational review process.
