County Receives Funding for Youth Traffic Safety Education

The County of San Luis Obispo Behavioral Health Department has been awarded a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for $55,000 for a year-long program of public awareness efforts to prevent traffic related deaths and injuries.

Friday Night Live (FNL), a program of the Behavioral Health Department’s Prevention & Outreach Division, honored ten local high school seniors with scholarships. Scholarships were awarded at the program’s inaugural FNL Banquet and Town Hall, held May 17th in San Luis Obispo.

New Coordinator Kicks Off Suicide Prevention Month

September is Suicide Prevention Month and the County of San Luis Obispo’s Behavioral Health Department welcomes Alysia Hendry as its new Suicide Prevention Coordinator. The new position has been funded as part of the County’s Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) work plan and will provide outreach and education throughout the county to address the growing impact of suicide in our communities.
Partnership Provides Mental Health Support To Police Team

The County of San Luis Obispo Behavioral Health Department announces the launch of a partnership program with Transitions Mental Health Association (TMHA) to provide mental health support to the San Luis Obispo Police Department’s (SLOPD) Community Action Team.
