SLOCEA Contract Implementation and Future Increases for Other Represented Employees

Last month, on January 14, 2020, the Board of Supervisors approved new Three-Year Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) for employees represented by the San Luis Obispo County Employees’ Association (SLOCEA).  The first compensation increases associated with the new SLOCEA MOUs became effective on January 26, 2020, and employees saw the changes on the February 14, 2020 paycheck.  Since Board of Supervisors’ approval on January 14, Human Resources and the Auditor’s Office have implemented the new MOUs, and the County’s labor team has met with payroll coordinators and department management to orient them to the key changes and provisions that are part of these new agreements. Written communications have also been sent to payroll coordinators regarding the changes including instructions for any new wage types and time coding processes that employees should be aware of. Further updates and clarifications will continue to be sent to payroll coordinators as necessary

Now that negotiations with SLOCEA are finalized, the County is in closed contracts with all represented employee associations, meaning the MOUs for all employee associations are current. For information on the next scheduled increases in July for each employee association, please see below:

  • For the District Attorney’s Investigator Association (DAIA), employees in the current classifications of DA Investigator III and Supervising DA Investigator will receive a 2.5% salary increase.
  • For the Deputy County Counsel Attorneys Association (DCCA), employees will receive a 2.3% salary increase.
  • For San Luis Obispo County Employees’ Association (SLOCEA), employees will receive a 2.0% increase.

For employees represented by the Sworn Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (SDSA) and the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association (DSA), the next scheduled compensation changes will occur in January 2021. We will be sending out further updates prior to those changes.
