Subject 8.10 Health Care Procedures Manuel Pursuant to Section 1409

  1. Policy and Procedures Manual 
    1. Will address the standards of the facility.
    2. Is available to health care staff, facility administrator, and facility manager to ensure effective service delivery.
    3. Is reviewed and revised annually by health administrator in cooperation with the facility manager.
  2. Contents (Section 1324)
    1. Table of organization.
    2. Purpose of programs.
    3. Responsibilities of employees.
    4. Maintenance of record keeping statistics.
    5. Instructions for handling:
      1. Deaths
      2. Suicide attempts
      3. Suicide prevention
      4. Serious illness or injury
      5. Emergency and basic health care
  3. Responsibility for Health Care Services (Section 1400)
    1. Facility administrator shall ensure that health care services are provided to all youth.
    2. Designated health administrator shall be responsible to:
      1. Develop and implement policy for health care administration
      2. Identify health care providers for the defined scope of services
      3. Establish written agreements as necessary to provide access to health care
      4. Develop mechanisms to assure that those agreements are properly monitored
      5. Establish systems for coordination among health care service providers
      6. Work in cooperation with the Director of the Department of Behavioral Health 
    3. Designated responsible physician shall develop policy in health care matters involving clinical judgments.
    4. Each policy and procedure for the health care delivery system shall be reviewed at least every two years and revised as necessary under the direction of the health administrator. The health administrator shall develop a system to document that this review occurs.
