Purpose |
To establish a standardized manner that success stories are documented and communicated to highlight the achievement of persons under supervision of Probation to the public. |

- Any probation employee may submit a success story of a person they worked with for consideration to the Assistant Chief Probation Officer, with a copy to the employee’s supervisor and Chief Deputy.
- The subject of success stories shall be contacted to request their consent to share their story.
- Approved success stories will be included in our communication to the Board of Supervisors and may be posted on our website
Success story criteria:
Stories shall highlight how the Probation Department made a positive difference in a person’s life.
Content:
Capture the overall message and success of the story. Avoid jargon
Best to focus on a single accomplishment, state why this was important, describe in detail what was the person’s challenge(s), AVOID detailing protected health or other confidential information; describe how the probation officer/Department helped the person achieve the accomplishment; include what accomplishment was achieved include quotes, testimonies, data to show the impact
Wrap the story up in a convincing / impactful manner.
Formatting:
- Drafts shall be a maximum of one (1) page
- Keep paragraphs short
- Use bullet points to break up blocks
- Use plain words; avoid technical jargon
