Emergency Repair Work Begins in Cayucos to Protect Bridge at Picachio Road

CAYUCOS, CA - Emergency repair work has begun on Picachio Road in Cayucos to fix the shoulder embankment.

Originally damaged in January 2023 but posing no imminent threat to the public, the project has been in process with FEMA awaiting approval/reimbursement. Heavy rain during the February 2024 storms has increased the washout area significantly, threatening the roadway and nearby bridge. To prevent more extensive damage and to ensure access to residents in the area, the repairs were prioritized to take place immediately. 

Construction will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will result in the continued closure of one lane, with intermittent road closures with approximate 20-minute wait times. The Public Works Department estimates construction will last through 03/15/2024.
