Offender Location and Release Notification
When an offender is incarcerated, the Victim Witness Assistance Center can help link victims with resources so the victim can be notified when the offender is released.
Resources for victims to become informed of an offenders release or location include:
When the offender in your case is sentenced to state prison in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), and you are the victim of crime, victim's next of kin, witness, or concerned citizen and you would like to receive notification complete the CDCR 1707 form online. Or, you may return it to your victim advocate to mail to CDCR; we will make a copy and scan it into our system before sending to CDCR.

The CDCR website includes an "Inmate Locater" page as a public service.
The CDCR 1707 form will notify CDCR of your contact information and any requests you have made such as:
- Notification of changes to offender’s custody status: release, death, escape or parole status/hearing.
- Special conditions of parole including:
a. Offender not be allowed to contact victim while he/she is on parole/community supervision.
b. Offender not be allowed to live in the same county as victim
c. Offender not be allowed to live within 35 miles of victim’s home address. (Specific crimes and direct victims only)
Requests for special conditions of parole are considered but not guaranteed.
