Withdrawal Management - Detox
Drug and Alcohol provides interventions aimed at managing acute withdrawal as part of caring for substance-related disorders, including: Evaluation, Stabilization of the patient, often with the use of medications, and Fostering support for recovery.
Withdrawal Management services are for alcohol withdrawal treatment, opiate withdrawal treatment, and methamphetamine withdrawal support.
Who is eligible?
Anyone can use this service who has a substance use disorder and is in need of assistance to detoxify from alcohol, opiates, or methamphetamines.
- Program participants must have a substance use disorder and not be under current physician care or with a pain management clinic.
- Program participants must be 18 years or older.
Is there a charge for this service?
This service is provided free of charge for Medi-Cal beneficiaries and on a reasonable sliding fee scale.
- Income levels and household size are assessed and fees are determined upon a percentage.
- Medi-Cal beneficiaries' fees are covered by Medi-Cal.
When and where is this service offered?
This service is available throughout the year during regular business hours except during scheduled holidays. The services are available in the four (4) Drug and Alcohol Services clinic locations in Paso Robles, Atascadero, San Luis Obispo/Johnson Avenue, and Grover Beach.

Your primary care physician can provide detoxification services and an appropriate tapering schedule. You may also come to Drug and Alcohol Services for a no-cost evaluation.
We provide detoxification from Alcohol, Opiates (heroin, morphine, oxycontin, and other pain killers), and Methamphetamine.
You can come to the San Luis Obispo Drug and Alcohol Services clinic on Monday - Thursdays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. You may also call for an assessment appointment at (805) 788-6643.
