Williamson Act Eligibility Requirements
Properties must meet or exceed the following eligibility requirements to participate in the County's Williamson Act Program.
Land Use Category
The property must be within the Agriculture land use category, a general plan amendment will be processed by the County to change the land use category to Agriculture once an agricultural preserve is established.
Minimum Acreage
Minimum acreage requirements for eligibility vary depending on the productive potential of the soil - more productive soils result in smaller minimum size requirements. In order to meet the minimum size requirement, two or more parcels may be combined if they are contiguous or if they are under the same ownership. Examples of minimum acreage requirements for eligibility, in general, are listed in the following table.
Productive Potential | Minimum Acreage |
---|---|
Coastal Valley and Vegetable Lands | 10 Acres |
Orchards and Vineyards | 20 Acres |
