The Political Reform Act prohibits a public official from participating in governmental decisions in which he or she has a financial interest that may be materially affected. To help identify potential conflicts of interest, the law requires officials to file Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700). Agencies must ensure that their public officials (designated board and commission members, employees, and consultants) file the forms and disclose their interests on or before the statutory deadline, including assuming and leaving office statements, as well as annual statements.
Who is eligible?
This service is available to designated County employees, elected County officials, County Counsel, County Administrator, District Attorney, County Treasurer, Board of Supervisors, Planning Commissioners, employees and elected officials of school, and special districts and appointees to specific boards who are designated in their agency’s Conflict of Interest Code are required to file Statements of Economic Interests.
