Fish & Games Fines Advisory Committee

When and where is this service offered?

The Committee is comprised of ten members, two members from each County Supervisorial District, appointed by the Board of Supervisors. For a current listing of members please email [email protected] or [email protected] your request.

The Committee interacts and coordinates with federal, state, and local agencies and other organizations involved in fish and wildlife conservation, restoration, enhancement, and management programs. Programs and projects funded under this program demonstrate a benefit to the fish and wildlife of San Luis Obispo County.

The County Fish and Game Fund is financed through fines imposed for Fish and Game code violations that occur within San Luis Obispo County. The funds are expended for various purposes related to protecting, conserving, propagating, and preserving fish and wildlife.

Grants are available to agencies, organizations, individuals, and groups.
All project awards and expenditures must follow Section 13103 of the Fish and Game Code.

  • Public education relating to fish and wildlife conservation
  • Temporary emergency care of injured or orphaned wildlife
  • Improvement of fish and wildlife habitat
  • Predator control actions that will benefit a particular wildlife species
  • Scientific fish and wildlife research conducted by institutions of higher learning
  • Other approved expenditures for the purpose of protecting, conserving, propagating and preserving fish and wildlife

Meetings are held monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.  The meeting location is at the San Luis Obispo Veterans Memorial Building, Fireside Chat Room at 7:00PM.
