Industrial Hemp Regulations Approved

The San Luis Obispo County Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures is currently accepting applications.
ON TUESDAY, JUNE 18TH, THE SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS PASSED AN URGENCY ORDINANCE PLACING A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM ON THE CULTIVATION OF INDUSTRIAL HEMP. DUE TO THIS MORATORIUM OUR DEPARTMENT IS NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE COMMERCIAL CULTIVATION OF INDUSTRIAL HEMP OR THE NOTIFICATION OF ANY NEW AG RESEARCH INSTITUTION CULTIVATION SITES. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION WILL BE PROVIDED AS IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.
The California Department of Food and Agriculture announced the approval of Section 4900 in Title 3 of the California Code of Regulations. This approval initiates the registration process for commercial industrial hemp production in California and authorizes County Agricultural Commissioners to accept applications and fee payments from commercial producers and issue registrations to those meeting the requirements outlined in the regulation.
The San Luis Obispo County Department of Agriculture/Weights and Measures is currently accepting applications at the main office located at 2156 Sierra Way, San Luis Obispo. Growers wishing to submit applications are encouraged to review the registration process information that can be found on the Commercial Industrial Hemp Registration Requirements page. Additionally, applicants are encouraged to contact the department at 805-781-5910 with any questions regarding their application or if there are any specific questions regarding the registration process.
