District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that Jonathan Oscar Davis had pleaded guilty to felony child molestation and committing a lewd act on a child at Bath & Body Works in San Luis Obispo last month. He faces a sentence of 8-years in state prison.
Jonathan Oscar Davis (48) of Santa Maria has pleaded guilty to felony child molestation and misdemeanor lewd act on a child ten years of age. In admitting the child molestation charge, Davis also admitted that he was convicted three times previously for child molestation, two in 2006 and one in 2019. Davis also admitted that he was convicted in 2001 for residential burglary out of San Francisco County, a ‘strike’ under California’s Three Strikes Law.
The current crime occurred mid-morning of August 19, 2023, at Bath and Body Works in downtown San Luis Obispo and involved a ten-year-old child, identified in the criminal complaint as Jane Doe. It is the policy of the District Attorney’s Office to identify victims of sexual assault by a pseudonym to protect their privacy.
Davis faces 8 years in state prison for his conviction and is scheduled to be sentenced October 5, 2023, in Department 6 of the San Luis Obispo Superior Court.
The case was investigated by the San Luis Obispo City Police Department and is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Kimberly Dittrich who is assigned to the District Attorney’s Sexual Assault Prosecution Unit.
