Surface Mining Inspections
The State Office of Mine and Reclamation (OMR) requires the County to conduct annual mine inspections for all active mines within the unincorporated areas of the county. These inspections include on-site visits to ensure that the mines are operating within their approved boundaries and following the requirements of their approved reclamation plans.
What is the process?
Schedule Inspection
Department of Planning & Building staff schedule an annual inspection, generally between July and the end of December.
Complete Report
Staff completes the inspection report and sends it to the State, which then reviews the report to verify that the mine is in compliance with all applicable plans regulations and plans.
Who is eligible?
Operators of active mines within the unincorporated areas of the county.

When and where is this service offered?
Active mines are inspected on an annual basis.
