3.35 Training Laptops

Subject 3.35 Training Laptops
Purpose The Professional Standards Unit(PSU) has laptops that have been inventoried and are available for use. Priority is based upon those that are attending a training requiring laptops to be utilized.

Issuance

  1. The officer will be responsible for notifying the PSU via email (PR_Professional_Standards) they need a laptop. The email will include the duration, dates, name of the training, if a laptop is required by the training provider and if VPN access is needed. If you are already an approved VPN user, you do not need to notify the PSU. Laptop availability will be based upon the priority noted above.
  2. If VPN access is required, the PSU will notify Probation IT of the staff who needs access and include a beginning/ending date. Probation IT will remove the VPN access the following business day.
  3. Laptops will be ready for pickup 48 hours prior to the training. If it is needed sooner, please email the PSU with a specific date/time.
  4. Laptops will be electronically checked out to the officer and a digital signature is required.
  5. Each laptop has a unique username and password. That information will be provided to you at checkout. Your individual Windows username and password is not required.
  6. A carrying case, laptop and charge cord will be included.
  7. Laptops to be returned to the PSU within 48 business hours after the training. The laptop placed in the case, cords neatly bundled and placed in the smaller front pocket of the carrying case prior to return.
  8. Laptop request for purposes other than training will be based upon availability.
  9. The Laptop is subject to the County IT Acceptable use Policy.

Lost Property

The officer will report the lost laptop per Department policy.
