Job Seekers
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) establishes two levels of employment and training services for Adults and Dislocated Workers: Career Services and Training Services. Job Seekers who seek tools or resources related to Career or Training Services or referrals to many SLOCal Careers partner agencies may find this section useful.
Individualized Career Services
These services are designed to meet the unique needs of the Customer. These services include comprehensive and specialized assessments, case management, individual employment plans, career planning, and vocational counseling.
Training Services
Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) are for individual job seekers who need occupational skills training in order to successfully reenter the workforce. Training providers are available in the State's Eligible Training Provider list.
On-the-Job Training (OJT) is another training opportunity that provides work-based learning rather than classroom instruction. The intention of an OJT agreement is to benefit both the employer and the customer by bridging the gap between a worker's current skills and the skills employers are looking for and providing reimbursement to the employer for the costs associated with training the OJT trainee and promoting good-paying jobs.
