County Mourns Loss of Katcho Achadjian

An official statement from the County regarding the recent passing of Katcho Achadjian.


We are deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of Katcho Achadjian, who represented San Luis Obispo County for three terms on the California State Assembly and served on the County Board of Supervisors for more than a decade. Katcho died Thursday, March 5. He was 68. He will be missed by all who knew him and worked with him, and his legacy of hard work and collaboration will live on.

Katcho was first elected to the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors in 1998, serving as the District 4 representative until his election to the Assembly in 2010. He served as Chairman of the Board in 2001 and 2006.

Katcho was born in Lebanon to Armenian parents, immigrating to the United States in 1971 and becoming a US citizen in 1982. He studied in Cuesta College before graduating from Cal Poly with a Business Administration degree. He and his wife Araxie were married in 1984. In 1978, he purchased a small business that expanded into multiple stores and gas stations throughout San Luis Obispo County.

He leaves behind his wife and two children, Hratch and Nyri.
