County Commended 31 Consecutive Years for Financial Reporting

The County once again received a prestigious award recognizing excellence in financial reporting, which demonstrates the County's commitment to keeping the public informed and being transparent with the people it serves.


The County of San Luis Obispo recently received the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting for the 31st consecutive year.

Government Finance Officers Association of the Unites States and Canada (GFOA). Awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the County for its FY 2015-16 Comprehensive Financial Report. This represents a significant accomplishment by a government agency and demonstrates that the County is managing its finances well, County officials say.

“This award reflects the continuing hard work and high standards of staff who account for the county’s finances on a daily basis," said Jim Erb, County Auditor-Controller-Treasurer-Tax Collector. "This also represents our status as a World Class organization. I encourage all San Luis Obispo County citizens  to review  their County government’s finances at any time by viewing this report.”

The County’s most recent comprehensive financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program which includes demonstrating a constructive “spirit of disclosure” to clearly communicate the County’s financial story and motivate people to read the report.
