Congressman Salud Carbajal recognized Bruce Gibson at the October 8th Board of Supervisors meeting for his accomplishments this past year as President of the California State Association of Counties (CSAC). Supervisor Gibson was elected by Supervisor representatives of all 58 of California counties in November of 2023 to serve as President of CSAC and advocate for the interests of San Luis Obispo and all California counties in that capacity.
CSAC was proactive in advocating for legislation that removes difficult barriers to develop critical
infrastructure and supported much needed efforts to build more affordable housing. CSAC also supported measures to simplify and streamline land use planning procedures that will accelerate housing development, giving counties more tools needed to build shelters and affordable housing.
During his time as CSAC President, Supervisor Gibson made formal visits to 12 counites including Amador, Modoc, San Diego, Yolo, Butte, Del Norte, and Imperial. He has met with his Supervisor colleagues and county staff from around the state to learn about the challenges, successes, and perspectives of other counties and how to connect them with CSAC and one another to further the collective good work on behalf of California residents.
Supervisor Gibson’s term as CSAC President will conclude in November of 2024 when Supervisors will elect a new President at CSAC’s Annual Conference.
