Precinct Workers Needed for June 5 Election

The Clerk-Recorder’s Election team is looking for precinct workers for the June 5, 2018 Primary Election.
“San Luis Obispo County is known for conducting open and honest elections, built on security and integrity,” said County Clerk-Recorder Tommy Gong. “Precinct workers play an integral part by assisting every qualified voter to cast a ballot and ensuring each ballot is safely secured until it can be counted.”
The County employs approximately 1,000 precinct workers per election to work at the polls. Precinct workers are responsible for providing a positive voting experience and ensuring the rights of everyone seeking to vote are protected.
“Being a precinct worker fosters a sense of civic responsibility, allows you to see our County’s democratic process in action and you can earn extra money in the process,” Gong said.
Precinct workers must be 18 years or older, a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States, a California registered voter, able to speak and read English, and be available to serve from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm (half day shifts are also available).
Service groups and clubs may adopt a poll as a way to fundraise. Groups can earn $500 to $550 per precinct staffed.
“Groups gain great satisfaction of knowing they have contributed to a vital part of democracy in San Luis Obispo County,” Gong said.
