The County Fire Department is now responsible for fire protection in the community of Cayucos on December 1, 2018
With direction from the County Board of Supervisors, the County Fire Chief assumed the responsibility for fire protection in the community of Cayucos on December 1, 2018.
The County hosted a public Transfer of Command Ceremony at the Cayucos Fire Station, located at 201 Cayucos Drive, Cayucos, CA 93430, on December 1, 2018 at 11 a.m.
As part of the ceremony, the community celebrated the men and women that have faithfully served the community of Cayucos and the Cayucos Fire Protection District for the past 70 years. A commemorative plaque, honoring the proud history of the Cayucos Firefighters, will be permanently attached to the fire station. Station 56 disbanded and became Estero Bay Fire Station 16 of the County of San Luis Obispo Fire Department/CAL FIRE.
“We welcome the Estero Bay Fire Station to the County Fire Department, and we look forward to serving the citizens of Cayucos for the future," said County Fire Chief Scott Jalbert.
The ceremony was the culmination of several months of collaboration, between the CAL FIRE/San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, the County Board of Supervisors, Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO), and the Cayucos Fire Protection District to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective transition of fire protection service in the community of Cayucos.
