Arroyo Grande Man Charged With Murder

Dan Dow announced today that Nicholas Sage Coronado-Waterman (25) of Arroyo Grande has been charged with murder for the beating death of Andres Martinez, which took place on March 23, 2020 in the city of Grover Beach.


District Attorney Dan Dow announced today that Nicholas Sage Coronado-Waterman (DOB 05-30-94) of Arroyo Grande has been charged for the March 23, 2020 beating death of Andres Martinez.  Coronado-Waterman is being charged with first degree murder.  It is further alleged that Coronado-Waterman used a rock during the fatal assault.

The murder charge stems from an incident occurring shortly before midnight at Gateway Plaza near the intersection of East Grand Avenue and Oak Park Boulevard in the city of Grover Beach.  Coronado-Waterman appeared in court for an arraignment this morning.  He did not enter a plea and the matter was continued for a further arraignment hearing on April 2, 2020 in Department 3 of the San Luis Obispo Superior Court.

The incident was investigated by the Grover Beach Police Department with the assistance of the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigation.  Investigations are ongoing.  The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Julie Antos.

It is important to note that a criminal complaint contains charges that must be proven in a court of law by proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
