Marijuana and Youth: A Town Hall Forum

Author: Frank Warren
Date: 5/14/2018 2:31 PM

Marijuana and youth will be the focus of a town hall presentation and discussion on Tuesday, May 15, 6:30-8:00pm at Templeton High School (1200 South Main Street, Multipurpose Room).

The free event, open to adults and youth 11 and older, will help the community to understand today’s marijuana, address myths surrounding marijuana use, as well as empower teens and young adults to prevent negative outcomes.

The event will feature a presentation by addiction specialist Jody Belsher (Producer/Director of the documentary The Other Side of Cannabis) and a panel discussion including Belsher, Undersheriff Tim Olivas, Central Coast Recovery President Carlos Guerrero, County Behavioral Health Prevention & Outreach Division Manager Frank Warren, and Twin Cities Community Hospital Emergency Medicine Doctor Cinnamon Redd.  Information will also be available for those already struggling with marijuana issues and addiction, as well as other drug prevention and treatment resources.

The town hall is a collaboration by County of San Luis Obispo Behavioral Health and POSAFY (Prevention of Substance Abuse for Youth) to provide education to youth and their families to make healthy life decisions based on scientific knowledge and to prevent substance abuse.  Visit www.posafy.org or email info @posafy.org to learn more.

Media is invited and welcome to cover this event.  For more information, please contact Gabriel Granados (805) 781-4285; [email protected].
