Emergency Medical Services
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division is made up of both the Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMSA) and the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program (PHEP).
The EMS Agency is the local Agency having the primary responsibility for the administration of emergency medical services in the County. As defined in California H&S Code 1797.204, the EMS Agency shall plan, implement and evaluate an emergency medical services system. This is accomplished through public and private partnerships, agreements and regulatory mechanisms. EMS Agency Website
The Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program (PHEP) carries out the day to day activities as defined in California H&S Code 1797.153 to ensure a well-coordinated medical and health response to disasters, emergencies and communicable disease outbreaks affecting the public’s health. PHEP Website
