By granting the economic development funding, the County hopes to see successful businesses employ county residents and establish a robust local economy.

The County of San Luis Obispo Board of Supervisors hopes to increase local job growth and boost the local economy with $210,000 in economic development grants.

At Tuesday’s public meeting in San Luis Obispo, the Board approved:

“We care about the local economy and are focused on supporting efforts that enhance economic development in the most effective way possible for San Luis Obispo County,” said Assistant County Administrator Guy Savage. The County Administrative Office prepared the agreements.

By granting the economic development funding, the County hopes to see successful businesses employ county residents and establish a robust local economy. Both agreements will be paid for through the County’s Community Development budget, which was adopted earlier this year. No additional funding is requested as part of these agreements.

These are in addition to the $300,000 new grant agreement with the Hourglass Project in April to develop a Central Coast Jobs Roadmap and Action Plan. The County’s $200,000 financial support of the SLO HotHouse will pay for the cost of facilities to support the Incubator Program, its economic development activities, and its job creation priorities. In addition, the County is provided a seat on the HotHouse Community Advisory Board. The County’s $10,000 financial support of the EVC will foster collaboration between local government and business leaders to increase job growth and to establish a robust local economy.
