Affidavit for Elderly or Handicapped Families
The Affidavit for the Elderly or Handicapped Families is a required supplemental affidavit filed with the Assessor's Office annually. It provides necessary income information of residents who occupy property owned and operated by a nonprofit agency. The information filed on the Affidavit helps determine the amount of property tax exemption allowed on the property.
Who is eligible?
Owners/operators of nonprofit residential property occupied by Elderly or Handicapped households may use this service.
When and where is this service offered?
The BOE-267-H Welfare Exemption Supplemental Affidavit, Housing - Elderly or Handicapped Families form must be filed with the Assessor's Office each year by February 15th in order to qualify for the Welfare Exemption without incurring late file penalties.

No, the affidavit is a supplemental form that should be filed along with the Claim for Welfare Exemption form (for a first filing) or the Annual Claim for Welfare Exemption form (for an annual filing). Please see the section on Welfare Exemptions for more information.
