The Friday Night Live chapter at San Luis Obispo High School has been working on reducing anxiety and burnout and highlighting assets in the community that support this goal through a project called Photovoice. Photovoice is a campaign in which participants capture their voices and express their point of view by photographing subjects and scenes relevant to their communities in hopes of answering the question: What resources and norms exist in our community that support people with anxiety and burnout? FNL members then wrote a narrative for each photo sharing what the photo means to them and what it tells us about anxiety/burnout in our community.

Our hope is to share the results of this campaign with local students, parents, and stakeholders to record and reflect youth perceptions and concerns on anxiety, burnout, and underage drinking!

The main goal of Photovoice is to deepen participants’ awareness and understanding of community issues and assets while at the same time engaging youth in local knowledge generation and dissemination while fostering youth development. FNL chapter members plan for this project to influence their next steps in promoting health and wellness on campus and within the community.
