Fictitious Business Name Copies
This service provides information on how to search the Fictitious Business Name record indices and obtain copies of Fictitious Business Name Statements. Fictitious Business Name Statements are filed and maintained in the County of San Luis Obispo Clerk-Recorder's Office. Copies of existing Fictitious Business Name Statements are a public record and available upon request.

How to Request a Copy
Your may request a copy of a Fictitious Business Name Statement filed in the County of San Luis Obispo one of the following ways:
- In person.
- Submit your request in writing by mail. Please provide the name of the business and/or the file number and ensure appropriate fees are included for certified copy requests. Once the Clerk-Recorder's Office receives the request, it will be processed within one (1) to two (2) business days. See the Clerk-Recorder's Fee Schedule.
- Contact the Clerk-Recorder's Office by phone.

Is there a charge for this service?
There is no charge for copies of fictitious business names statements. See the Clerk-Recorder's Fee Schedule for the cost to obtain certified copies of Fictitious Business Names filed in the County of San Luis Obispo.

This service is available anytime throughout the year by mail, by phone, or in-person at the Clerk-Recorder Office in San Luis Obispo during our transaction hours except during County observed holidays.
