Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program helps families by providing nutrition education, breastfeeding support, healthy foods, and referrals to health care and other community services.

*All County of San Luis Obispo WIC offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov 28 & Friday, Nov 29, 2024 for the Thanksgiving holiday. The WIC offices will resume services on Monday, Dec 2, 2024
What is the process?

Gather Necessary Documents
- Identification for the persons applying for WIC, such as a birth certificate, driver’s license, crib card, military ID, photo ID, Social Security card, hospital record, or Medi-Cal card
- Proof of all family income (pay stubs or Medi-Cal card)
- Proof of street address (mail, utility bill, rent/mortgage receipt)
Who is eligible?
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or just had a baby in the past 6 months (or pregnancy loss);
- Children up to 5 years of age, including those cared for by a mom, dad, a grandparent, foster parent, step-parent or guardian; and
- Meet the WIC income guidelines or who receive Medi-Cal, CalWORKS or CalFresh (SNAP) benefits; and
- Live in California.

Yes. In order to enroll in WIC, an appointment is required. Please call (805) 781-5570 or text (888) 417-6180 to schedule an appointment.
WIC participants receive monthly food benefits to get healthy foods. WIC foods include fruits and vegetables, whole-wheat bread, dry beans/peas, peanut butter, milk, soymilk and tofu, yogurt, eggs, cheese, cereal, canned fish, baby foods and infant cereal. Special infant formulas and medical foods may be provided when prescribed by a physician for a specified medical condition. For a full list of eligible foods, click here.
Yes! WIC benefits will be provided on a California WIC Card for all of your family's food benefits at your first appointment if you qualify.

Only a WIC authorized food store can accept the WIC Card. Look for the WIC logo or WIC poster to identify stores that accept the WIC Card. You can also consult with your WIC counselor to find a store near you.
Unfortunately, the WIC Card cannot be used at Farmers' Markets in San Luis Obispo County at this time.
