Notice of Closure:
All County of San Luis Obispo WIC offices will be closed on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 2:30-4:00 PM for a mandatory meeting. The WIC offices will resume services at 4:00 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2026.

To find out if you are eligible, view WIC’s qualifying incomes, visit the State's WIC website or fill out the Apply for WIC form. Our staff can confirm if you qualify for WIC services.

Gather Necessary Documents
- Identification for yourself and your children under five that are applying for WIC, such as a birth certificate, driver’s license, crib card, military ID, photo ID, Social Security card, hospital record, or Medi-Cal card
- Proof of your family's household income (pay stubs, tax return, letter from employer or Medi-Cal card)
- Proof of your address (ID, mail, utility bill, rent/mortgage receipt)
- Proof of pregnancy
Who is eligible?
- Individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or just had a baby in the past 6 months (or pregnancy loss);
- Children up to 5 years of age, including those cared for by a mom, dad, a grandparent, foster parent, step-parent or guardian; and
- Meet the WIC income guidelines or who receive Medi-Cal, CalWORKS or CalFresh (SNAP) benefits; and
- Live in California.

FAQs
The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutrition program helps California families eat well and stay healthy. You may be eligible for WIC if you are pregnant, just had a baby in the last six months, or have a child up to age 5.
WIC welcomes partners, grandparents, foster parents, or guardians who care for eligible children. WIC services are provided at no cost to you.
You may qualify for California WIC if you:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding or chestfeeding, just had a baby (or recent pregnancy loss) in the last six months; or
- Have a child or care for a child under age 5; and
- Have a low-to-medium income or receive Medi-Cal, CalWORKs (TANF), or CalFresh benefits; and
- Live in California.

Yes. In order to enroll in WIC, an appointment is required. Please call (805) 781-5570 or text (888) 417-6180 to schedule an appointment.
For your first WIC appointment, you will need to bring:
- Identification for yourself and your children up to age 5
- A document verifying your current address
- A document verifying your current income
Your WIC office may also request additional documents, such as a proof of pregnancy.
Phone or in-person appointments are available. It is always a good idea to confirm the requirements with your WIC office before your appointment.

WIC participants receive monthly food benefits to get healthy foods. WIC foods include fruits and vegetables, whole-wheat bread, dry beans/peas, peanut butter, milk, soymilk and tofu, yogurt, eggs, cheese, cereal, canned fish, baby foods and infant cereal. Special infant formulas and medical foods may be provided when prescribed by a physician for a specified medical condition. For a full list of eligible foods, click here.
Yes! WIC benefits will be provided on a California WIC Card for all of your family's food benefits at your first appointment if you qualify.
Only a WIC authorized food store or participating farmers' market can accept the WIC Card. Look for the WIC logo or WIC poster to identify stores or farmers' markets that accept the WIC Card. You can also consult with your WIC counselor.
Yes, new WIC cards (summer 2025) with QR codes can be used year-round at authorized Farmers' Markets to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables throughout San Luis Obispo County!
