The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will retrofit the 60 vintage light fixtures along Tefft Street and Thompson Avenue in Olde Towne Nipomo with LED fixtures.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday May 2, 2022, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and be completed within one week. No impacts to traffic are anticipated. Please see map for location.

The existing metal halide lights were installed around 2003 and have reached the end of their useful life. This project will replace all 60 existing metal halide fixtures with LED conversion kits resulting in a uniform appearance. Implementation of the 60 LED fixtures is an energy efficient technology that reduces energy costs, has a longer useful life, and requires less staff maintenance. Upgrading the fixtures to LED will result in an estimated annual energy cost savings of $3,480.

The Olde Towne Nipomo Association was consulted on the proposed action to upgrade the fixtures and supports the project. They also worked with County staff regarding the design, funding, and selection of the originally installed streetlights.
