SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTYWIDE – To improve sign visibility and to meet current standards, the County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works is upgrading road signs to meet current retro-reflectivity standards and installing new chevrons and advance warning signs throughout portions of San Luis Obispo County.
Work began on February 18, 2025, and is anticipated to extend through April 2025. As the project progresses, motorists are encouraged to use caution around roads crews as they perform the work on the following roads:
- Adelaida Road
- El Pomar Drive
- Geneseo Road
- Linne Road
- Union Road
Please refer to the maps for exact locations.
The project will improve roadway safety through the installation of new warning signs at the project locations. In addition to the new signs, the project will also include updating existing signs to meet current reflectivity standards identified in the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Devices.
Work began at Geneseo Road and will advance sequentially towards Union Road, Linne Road, El Pomar Drive, ending at Adelaida Road between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All work is occurring in the shoulder closures.
For the safety of the public and work crews, traffic control may cause delays of up to 10 minutes during construction. Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans and consider alternative routes.
Toste Construction, Inc., has been awarded the $105,998 contract to perform the work. The project is funded by State Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) and local road funds.
