3.27 Reassignment Request Procedure

Subject 3.27 Reassignment Request Procedure
Purpose Establish a standardized procedure to determine reassignment decisions involving the specified positions.

  1. When there is an assignment vacancy for the following positions:
    • Supervising Deputy Probation Officer
    • Deputy Probation Officer III
    • Deputy Probation Officer
    • Legal Clerk
    • Administrative Assistant III
      • An announcement will be sent out via email inviting relevant employees to submit a request for consideration to move to the open assignment or other assignment openings as a result of the moves.  The notice will include a deadline to submit requests.
  2. Requests for assignment moves will be submitted via email to the Department’s Human Resources Unit.
  3. A meeting of Department team leaders will be scheduled to consider and approve move requests at the conclusion of the submission deadline.  Meetings are optional for Team Leaders.
  4. Team leaders will participate in these meetings as follows:
    • Supervising Deputy Probation Officer (SDPO) assignments – Management only
    • Deputy Probation Officers IIIs – Non-institutional SDPOs and Management
    • Deputy Probation Officers – Non-institutional SDPOs and Management
    • Legal Clerk – Non-institutional SPDOs and Management
    • Administrative Assistants III – Non-institutional SDPOs, non-sworn Supervisors and Management
  5. Staff who have been reassigned will be noticed by their supervisor or Chief Deputy in a timely manner
  6. Any staff who requested to be reassigned but was not, will be given an explanation for the decision by their supervisor or Chief Deputy in a timely manner.
  7. The Chief Probation Officer will have final approval of any staff reassignment.
