The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin construction of the Tefft Street at US 101 Interchange Operational Improvement project.
Work is scheduled to start April 12, 2021 and continue into November 2021, dependent on weather.
The project will relieve congestion and improve pedestrian access at the Tefft Street and US 101 interchange by widening the northbound and southbound off-ramps to add additional turn lanes, installing new traffic signals, modifying existing traffic signal timing, constructing ADA ramps at the off-ramp intersections, and making improvements to drainage systems. See map for location.
For the safety of the public and workers, traffic control, shoulder closures, and flagging are anticipated. Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans and consider alternate routes during construction. Project construction includes intermittent nighttime (10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.) closure of the northbound and southbound off-ramps. Willow Road and Highway 166 will be used as detours during the nighttime off-ramp closures.
Souza Construction of San Luis Obispo, CA, has been awarded the contract for $1,520,200 to perform the work. The project is funded by the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments and County Road Improvement Funds. A groundbreaking event is scheduled for April 23, 2021, but will be closed to the general public to ensure health and safety at this time.
