Construction to Replace Existing Guardrail in Cambria to Begin Soon

Author: Public Works
Date: 6/9/2021 9:04 AM

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin replacing existing guardrail along Burton Drive and Main Street in Cambria.

This portion of work is part of a larger guardrail replacement project that includes sites in Pismo Beach and Nipomo. The existing guardrail is currently supported by wood posts with heights below current State and Federal guidelines.  Replacing the old guardrail with new metal support posts and guardrail at the appropriate height will increase safety for the traveling public.  Work is tentatively scheduled to start on June 8, 2021 and conclude by the end of June.

This project will replace existing guardrail at the following locations:

  • Main Street – between Eton Road and Santa Rosa Creek Road, Cambria
  • Burton Drive – between Eton Road and Rodeo Grounds Road, Cambria

For the safety of the public and workers, traffic will be reduced to one-way travel with flagging.  Delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected.  Motorists are advised to adjust their travel plans and consider alternative routes.  Please refer to the attached map for the project locations.

Taylor Jane Construction LP of Nipomo, CA, has been awarded the contract for $781,368 to perform the work.  The project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration’s Highway Safety Improvement Program, and County Road Fund.
