The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin replacing existing guardrail in the communities of Cambria, Nipomo, and an unincorporated area north of Pismo Beach.
The existing guardrail is currently supported by wood posts with heights below current State and Federal guidelines. Replacing the old guardrail with new metal support posts and guardrail at the appropriate height will increase safety for the traveling public. Work is tentatively scheduled to start on April 26, 2021 and conclude by the end of June, dependent upon weather.
This project will replace existing guardrail at the following locations:
- Main Street - between Eton Road and Santa Rosa Creek Road, Cambria.
- Burton Drive – between Eton Road and Rodeo Grounds Road, Cambria.
- Price Canyon Road – Starting 1-1/4 miles north of US 101 to Thousand Hills Road, Unincorporated Pismo Beach.
- Division Street – between Riverside Road and South Las Flores Drive, Nipomo
For the safety of the public and workers, traffic will be reduced to one-way travel with flagging. Delays of up to 10 minutes can be expected. Motorist are advised to adjust their travel plans and consider alternative routes. Please refer to the attached maps for the project locations.
Taylor Jane Construction LP of Nipomo, CA, has been awarded the contract for $781,368 to perform the work. The project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration’s Highway Safety Improvement Program, and County Road Fund.
