Local and Regional Workforce Development Plans Available for Public Comment
The Workforce Development Board of San Luis Obispo County is pleased to announce that the drafts of our Local and Regional Workforce Development Plans are now available for public review and comment. These documents outline the strategies and initiatives for workforce development in our local area and region and provides a framework for meeting local labor market needs.
We invite all community members, stakeholders, and interested parties to review the plans and share their feedback. The public comment period will be open through 3 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025. Please reference the page number and section of the Local or Regional plan when providing comment.
The Local Plan includes information specific to the County of San Luis Obispo. The draft Local Plan can be accessed online at DRAFT WDBSLO Local Plan or a paper copy is available for viewing Monday through Friday 8 AM - 4 PM at the Department of Social Services Office, 3rd Floor, 3433 S. Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, 93401. Comments may be submitted via email to dboulanger@co.slo.ca.us.
The Regional Plan incorporates information for the workforce region of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. The draft Regional Plan can be accessed online at DRAFT South Central Coast Regional Plan or a paper copy is available for viewing Monday through Friday 8 AM - 4 PM at the Department of Social Services Office, 3rd Floor, 3433 S. Higuera St, San Luis Obispo, 93401. Comments may be submitted via email to dboulanger@co.slo.ca.us.

The Workforce Development Board has partnered with the California Employer's Association (CEA) in purchasing a no-cost HR-Hotline for all San Luis Obispo County businesses to use as a resource. Get advice and guidance on all HR topics, click on the link to learn more.
The Workforce Development Board has recently updated the Business Resource Guide. This comprehensive guide was developed to link the business community to local, state, and federal resources.
The Workforce Development Board also proudly presents the Employer Training Series. The trainings are aimed to educate local employers about diversity, equity, and inclusion. Workforce Development Board
The Workforce Development Board (WDB) is part of the public workforce system that supports economic expansion and the development of talent in the local workforce. The WDB utilizes local labor market information to develop strategies to focus resources on high growth industries in the area. The WDB contracts with service providers for employment and training activities for youth, adults, and dislocated workers. Services under the WDB also include Rapid Response and Layoff Aversion programs to assist employers and their employees during downsizing or business closures.
