Purpose | Establish a procedure to identify the circumstances in the workplace when facial coverings are mandatory. |

Unless an employee is exempt from the face covering/mask requirements or are alone in a room, face coverings/masks are mandatory in the workplace to limit the spread of COVID-19 u
Probation Facilities:
- Facial covering/mask is mandatory to enter any Probation facility/building for employees and visitors.
Office/Workstations:
- Solo office – facial coverings/masks mandatory anytime a co-worker or other County employee enters the office.
- Exception – When by yourself, no facial covering/mask required, so long as office door remains closed
- Shared office – Facial covering/masks mandatory when more than one person is in the office at the same time
- Exception – when by yourself, no facial covering/mask required, so long as office door remains closed
- Cubicle Workstations – Employees in cubicles with three walls that are at least 5 feet high may remove their face covering/mask at times when working in the cubicle sitting down and not talking. Facial covering/mask is mandatory when talking on the phone or someone enters your workstation
County Vehicles:
- Facial covering/mask is mandatory when two or more persons are in the same vehicle at any time
- Employees shall wipe down high-touch surfaces with disinfectant after each use of a county vehicle
Interaction with Public:
- Facial covering/mask is mandatory during interactions with the public, no matter the circumstances and irrespective of times when social distancing is achievable. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- When accepting payments or other paperwork from persons that requires opening of the window slots to complete the exchange.
- Office or field contacts/interviews
- Drug testing
Working in or Walking Through Common Areas:
- Facial covering/mask is mandatory anytime your leave your office or workstation including when entering and exiting the office building. Common areas include but are not limited to:
- Restrooms
- Kitchen/break areas
- Hallways and stairways
- Interview rooms
- Public lobby spaces
- Classrooms/training rooms
Outdoor Public Spaces:
- Facial covering/mask is mandatory when an employee is unable to maintain 6 feet of social distancing from others not in their household.
- Employees shall always have a face covering/mask with them when working in outdoor public spaces
Exemptions from wearing facial covering/mask:
- Exemptions from wearing a facial covering/mask shall require a doctor’s note.
