Unemployment Rate for San Luis Obispo County decreased in February 2025
The San Luis Obispo County Monthly Employment Report (February 2025) shows an increase in the civilian labor force and civilian employment, and a decrease civilian unemployment.
Unemployment
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported the unemployment rate was 4.2% in February 2025, down from the revised 4.4% January rate. SLO County ranks 6th lowest Unemployment Rate in the state. The unadjusted Unemployment Rate in California was 5.5% and 4.5% in the nation during the same period.
Month-over Job Changes
The Private Education and Health Services industry reported the most gains in February, adding 500 jobs. The Government industry reported an increase of 200 jobs and the Professional and Business Services industry gained 100 jobs during the reporting period.
The Manufacturing, Information,Financial Activities, Leisure and Hospitality and Other Services industries all saw no changes in job loss or growth during the month of February.
The Mining, Logging, and Construction, and Trade, Transportation, and Utilities industries each saw a month-over loss of 100 jobs. The two sectors were the only to report job losses in February.
Total Farm reported a gain of 700 jobs during the month of February.
In the February 2025 reporting period, San Luis Obispo County lost a total of 1,200 jobs.
Year-over Job Changes
The Private Education and Health Services industry experienced the largest year-over change, adding 700 jobs. The Government industry reported a year-over-gain of 600 jobs. The Mining, Logging and Construction and Manufacturing industries each gained 100 jobs over the past year.
The Information, Professional and Business Service, and Leisure and Hospitality industries had no year-over job losses or gains.
The Other Services industries experienced the most year-over losses, losing 400 jobs. Trade, Transportation, and Utilities experienced a year-over loss of 300 jobs and the Financial Activities industry experienced a year-over loss of 200 jobs.
Total Farm reported a gain of 500 jobs since last year at this time.
San Luis Obispo County employers reported a year-over gain of 1,100 jobs.
