Unemployment Rate for San Luis Obispo County decreased in November 2024
The San Luis Obispo County Monthly Employment Report (November 2024) shows a decrease in the civilian labor force, no change in civilian employment, and a decrease in civilian unemployment.
Unemployment
The California Employment Development Department (EDD) reported the unemployment rate was 3.9% in November 2024, down from the revised 4.0% October 2024 rate. SLO County ranks 5th lowest Unemployment Rate in the state. The unadjusted Unemployment Rate in California was 5.3% and 4.0% in the nation during the same period.
Month-over Job Changes
The Government industry had the most gains reported in November, adding 600 jobs. The Mining, Logging, and Construction and Private Education and Health Services industries reported a gain of 100 jobs each.
The Trade, Transportation, and Utilities, Information, Professional and Business Services, and Other Services industries all saw no changes in job loss or growth during the month of November.
The Manufacturing, Financial Activities, and the Leisure and Hospitality industries experienced a month-over loss of 100 jobs each.
Total Farm reported a loss of 800 jobs during the month of November.
In the November 2024 reporting period, San Luis Obispo County lost a total of 300 jobs.
Year-over Job Changes
The Private Education and Health Services industry experienced the largest year-over change, adding 1,100 jobs. The Mining, Logging and Construction industry reported a year-over-gain of 400 jobs and the Leisure and Hospitality industry gained 300 jobs. The Other Services industry reported a gain of 100 jobs since this time last year.
The Information, Financial Activities, and Professional and Business Services industries had no year-over job losses or gains.
The Government industry had the largest year over loss, losing 300 jobs. Manufacturing and Trade, Transportation, and Utilities experienced year-over losses of 200 jobs each.
Total Farm reported no change since last year at this time.
San Luis Obispo County employers reported a year-over gain of 1,200 jobs.
