The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works (Public Works) invites the community to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the completed Geneseo Road at Huerhuero Creek Bridge.
The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the new bridge one mile north of the Creston Road intersection on Friday, March 27, 2020 at 11:30 A.M. Please see attached map for location.
Come celebrate:
- Reliable, all-weather access on Geneseo Road for area residents
- Little to no maintenance costs for the foreseeable future
- Increased safety for vehicles crossing Huerhuero Creek
The new bridge replaces a low water crossing at Huerhuero Creek. Historically, the low water crossing posed high maintenance costs and safety concerns. At times, Geneseo Road was closed for two or three months during the rainy season creating a hazardous situation for the public and emergency vehicles. This project was designed in-house by Public Works staff.
The construction contract was awarded in June of 2019 to Souza Construction, Inc. for $2.5 million. The bridge was opened to traffic on March 2, 2020.
