The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works has restricted the Villa Creek Road Bridge at Villa Creek approximately 1.7 miles north of Highway 1 to a single lane of travel with stop signs on both ends of the bridge.
Villa Creek Road Bridge will be restricted to a single lane until repairs can be performed. Full highway-legal loads are permitted during the restriction. Public Works expects the structure to be reopened to two lane traffic in summer 2021.
This bridge is among 137 federal highway bridges in San Luis Obispo County for which Caltrans provides inspection and recommendation of repairs. Based on potential structural deficiencies, a Caltrans bridge inspector determined that the east side (northbound lane) should be closed pending a more thorough inspection and recommendation for repairs.
The west side (southbound lane) will be used to allow both north and southbound traffic to cross the bridge while the restriction is in place with stop signs at both ends of the bridge. See map for specific location.
