New Water Storage Tanks Project, Cayucos

Author: Public Works
Date: 4/29/2020 11:42 AM

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin construction for two new water storage tanks to improve water service reliability, fire flow, and fire storage to meet current compliance standards.

Two new 210,000-gallon water storage tanks will be constructed to replace the existing 60 year old tank. The two tanks will increase water storage and provide redundancy within the system for when a tank must be taken out of service for maintenance or repairs. The project is located west of Hacienda Drive, in Cayucos.

Construction activities will begin in May and will continue until project completion, which is expected in February 2021.  Road closures and traffic delays are not anticipated, though traffic control and street parking restrictions will be in place on Hacienda Drive to maintain Construction and Emergency Vehicle Access. Construction hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., excluding County holidays. Vehicular and pedestrian access to “Hang Glider Hill”, via Hacienda Drive will be prohibited during construction. Hikers are advised to use Chaney Avenue for access.  Please see map for specific location.

John Madonna Construction Company, Inc., has been awarded the contract for $1,976,050 to perform the work. This project is being funded by County Service Area 10A, and a United States Department of Agriculture loan.
