The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will begin work on the replacement of a low water crossing on Geneseo Road with a new concrete bridge over Huerhuero Creek near the community of Creston.
Work will begin on the bridge in mid-July and construction is expected to continue through February 2020. The existing low water crossing is located near the intersection of Creston Road and Geneseo Road. Please see attached map for specific location.
The road at the proposed bridge site will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of the project, approximately six months. Traffic will need to detour on Linne Road and Creston Road during construction. The project will maintain access to adjacent property owners.
The new bridge will provide a significant improvement for access and travel through the area. County costs for the on-going maintenance of the currently deteriorated low water crossing will be eliminated.
Souza Construction, Inc. has been awarded the contract for $2,448,393 to perform the work. The project is funded by the Federal Highway Administration via grant funding administered by the Caltrans Highway Bridge Program.
