For the fifth year, the County Library System is hosting free lunch for kids 18 and under at numerous branches.

The County of San Luis Obispo Library System is proud to announce that it will be hosting its free lunch program for kids 18 and under for the fifth year in a row.  Lunches will be provided from June 8th to July 28th on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the Morro Bay, Nipomo and San Luis Obispo branches. The free lunches are made possible by the San Luis Coastal and Lucia Mar Meal Services Departments, Summer Lunch at the Library, and the USDA.

Lunches meet the nutritional USDA guidelines and will be served on a first come, first served basis at different branches. No registration is required. Providing free lunches to children during the summer break months is a way we can connect healthy minds to healthy bodies. The Libraries are proud to be able to offer this very important necessity to the youth in our community and give families another wonderful reason to spend their summer at the library. The Libraries have been able to provide over 1,000 snacks and lunches for SLO County families over the past four years, and are extremely optimistic for our fifth year with new partners.

To kick-off the summer the San Luis Obispo Library, Morro Bay Library, and San Luis Coastal Meal Services will be offering free barbeques with live music, face painting, balloon animals, children’s farmer’s markets, summer reading challenge registration, and more.

The County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries will offer free summer kick off and barbeques be on Friday, June 8th at 12:30PM at the San Luis Obispo Library and on Wednesday, June 13th at 12:30PM at the Morro Bay Library.

All events are co-sponsored by San Luis Coastal Meal Services, Rita’s Rainbows and the Friends of the Morro Bay and San Luis Obispo Libraries.
