The County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved authorizing the purchase of 258-acres of land between Morro Bay and Cayucos for a new County Park.
County Parks plans to use the property for a park, coastal access, and a trail connecting Morro Bay and Cayucos as identified in the County General Plan’s Parks and Recreation Element.
The purchase is a collaboration of many entities: Chevron is a willing seller who negotiated with the Trust for Public Land who worked with the Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo, the Cayucos Land Conservancy, and County Parks to finalize the terms of the sale.
The total purchase price is $3.75 million. Funding, for the acquisition, includes grants from the Wildlife Conservation Board (WCB), the California Coastal Conservancy, the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA), the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG), and private funding.
The purchase is planned to be finalized no later than April 30, 2020. This acquisition will serve to enhance the quality of life for the communities of Morro Bay and Cayucos as well as the residents and visitors of San Luis Obispo County.
