The following steps shall be followed for an eligible employee to receive approval for a career series (5.05) promotion:
- Eligible employees shall meet the minimum qualifications for the higher classification.

- Deputy Probation Officer https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/slocountyca/classspecs/1021768?keywords=Deputy%20Probation%20Officer&pagetype=classSpecifications
- Juvenile Services Officer https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/slocountyca/classspecs/1021800?keywords=juvenile%20services%20officer&pagetype=classSpecifications
- The employee completes and submits the Career Series Promotion Request form to his/her supervisor.
- Career Series Promotion Request form is located on the Intranet.
- Upon approval, the employee’s supervisor will forward the request to the officer’s Chief Deputy/Departmental Administrator for review and approval.
- Upon approval, the Chief Deputy/Departmental Administrator will forward the request to the Assistant Chief Probation Officer.
- The Assistant Chief Probation Officer will review and approve and forward to the Chief Probation Officer.
- If approved, the Chief Probation Officer will sign the Career Series Promotion Request form and forward to a Departmental Personnel Technician for processing.
- If approval is not received along the chain of command, the employee may appeal to the next level of authority.
- Approved forms will be maintained in the employee’s administrative file.
- Denied requests will be returned to the employee and not kept in the administrative file.
