Special Event: Supporting Children's Health with School Wellness

Wellness at school can play a powerful role in supporting children’s health and learning.
HEAL SLO, a collaborative convened by the Public Health Department, is hosting a special event with state and local leaders in wellness at school. School nurses, administrators, teachers, food service directors, board members, parents and community members are invited to join the event to gain new knowledge and practical tips.
When: Wednesday, May 8, 9-11 a.m.
Where: Health Agency Annex, 2180 Johnson Ave in San Luis Obispo

- Heather Reed, MA, RDN, California Department of Education
Speakers will highlight best practices, local success, impacts on academic achievement and more. After a panel discussion, guests will have the opportunity to browse resource tables and connect with others working to support wellness at school.
The Public Health Department provides resources and support to local schools through school wellness programs focused on nutrition education, school gardens, physical fitness, nutrition ambassadors, cafeteria design, school wellness committees and more.
