El Camino Real at Santa Margarita Creek Proposed Bridge Replacement Community Meeting – June 29, 2018
Author: Public Works

The County of San Luis Obispo Department of Public Works will hold a Community meeting on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Santa Margarita Community Hall, about the proposed El Camino Real bridge replacement project.
The California Department of Transportation has determined that the existing bridge over Santa margarita Creek needs to be replaced due to its condition, making the project eligible for federal funding. The proposed bridge project will construct a new, wider bridge at the same location and on the same alignment as the existing bridge. Construction will be phased to allow the bridge to remain open to traffic during construction. Construction will last two years and is anticipated to start the summer of 2020.
This meeting is to inform the public that the project’s environmental report, the Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) is currently available for public review and comment.
The MND is available for review and for public comment beginning June 25, 2018 and ends at the close of business on July 25, 2018. Upon completion of the 30-day public comment period, a resolution will then be taken to the County Board of Supervisors to adopt the Mitigated Negative Declaration and approve the project. The MND report considers the location, design features, and environmental effects of the proposed bridge replacement project.
The MND for the project can be viewed at the Department of Planning and Building website:
