The County of San Luis Obispo District 1 Supervisor and Department of Public Works will be holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the San Juan Creek Pedestrian Bridge.

The ceremony will be held on East Centre Street, between 5th Street and Calle Carmelita, in Shandon. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on February 2, 2018 at 12:00 pm located at the above-mentioned project site to celebrate the opening of this long anticipated Pedestrian Bridge in the community.

The project includes the installation of a separate steel truss bridge approximately 10 feet wide and 305 feet long over San Juan Creek and along the north side of the existing vehicle bridge. This project will improve overall safety and encourages a true “Safe Route to School” to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists.

Project construction was made possible from a $1,100,000 allocation by San Luis Obispo Council of Governments. The project is about one month ahead of schedule and $30,000 under budget. This project was constructed by Souza Construction of San Luis Obispo.
